The apparatus consists of five perspex glasses reducing in size. The smallest one is filled with milk. The contents of this glass are poured into the larger glass filling it. This glass of liquid is emptied into a still larger glass one again filling it and this one emptied into a still larger glass filling that one as well. The three smaller glasses may now be filled by emptying the larger glass into them.
